PROSPECTUS (Updated 11-20-2017)
Artists who are current members of one of the 19 member organizations of the Art Council of Southwest Florida (ACSWF) are invited to submit entries to be juried for acceptance into the upcoming Biennial Spring Show 2018, sponsored by the ACSWF. These works will be displayed at the Marco Island Art Center gallery, Marco Island, Florida. We hope that you will promote the show and invite friends, neighbors, and former buyers. The Marco Island venue draws a high volume of viewers and offers the possibility of robust sales.
VENUE: Marco Island Center for the Arts, Marco Island, Florida
ELIGIBILITY: A current, up-to-date Membership Card, or proof of payment by credit card or cancelled check, for an art
organization belonging to the ACSWF is required.
ENTRY FEE: A non-refundable fee of $20 for the first entry, $15 for the second entry, a maximum of two entries per artist, payable to the Art Council of Southwest Florida (check made out to ACSWF).
MAIL ENTRY FORMS and PAYMENT: Registration opens Nov. 20, 2018, and closes Feb. 15, 2018. Please print all forms listed at end of this Prospectus and complete all information by printing it. All Registration materials must be mailed by Feb. 15, 2018. Registration will not be accepted at Receiving on Feb. 27, 2018.

RECEIVING: Feb. 27, 2018, 10 a.m.- noon. NOTE: No registration forms will be accepted at receiving on Feb, 27, 2018. All forms must be mailed in advance (see above).
PICK UP OF DECLINED ENTRIES: Friday, March 2, 2018, 10 a.m.– 4 p.m. The Co-chairs will email or telephone Artists concerning declined works after 4 p.m. on Thursday, Feb 28, 2018.
PICK-UP of EXHIBITED WORK: March 28, 2018, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: All artwork MUST BE REMOVED PROMPTLY on Feb. 28, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. since there is no available storage. If you are unable to pick up your artwork yourself, make arrangements with someone to do so. That person must have a note signed by artist giving permission.
AWARDS: Awards given separately for 2D and 3D winners.
2D - 1st Place - $300; 2nd Place - $200; 3rd Place - $100.
3D - 1st Place - $300; 2nd Place - $200; 3rd Place - $100.
Judges’ Choice Awards – Non- monetary, in both 2D and 3D categories.
Presidents’ Choice Award -- Presidents of all ACSWF member organizations vote for one winner (2D or 3D).
RECEPTION: Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., award ceremony at 6:30 p.m. For ACSWF affiliate organizations, their members and invited guests only. Each participating artist may have one “free” invited guest. Additional guests may attend at a cost of $10.
REMOVAL AT END OF SHOW: Monday, March 27, 2018, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
EXHIBITION: All work must be original and completed by the artist. Works can not be exhibited that were exhibited at a previous ACSWF Spring Show or have been in, or are eligible for, the Winners’ Circle Show.
MEDIA TYPES: 2D and 3D works may be entered, including, but not limited to: Batik; Drawings in any medium;
Paintings in any medium; original prints (not Giclee); clay; collage; computer art; fiber art; Glass, Jewelry, Metal, Mixed
Media, Paper, Photography, Sculpture, Serigraphs, Stone, Weavings, and Wood.
2-D ART WORK:
Minimum size: 100 square inches, including frame, if art is framed (can be canvas wrapped).
Maximum size: 84 inches high by 42 inches wide, including frame (or canvas wrapped).
Paintings the size of a full-size watercolor sheet (30 x 40”) or larger must be covered with acrylic Plexiglass, not real glass, due to weight factors. Maximum weight: 50 pounds, including frame.
Paintings on canvas must be framed or have “wrap-around” canvas, sides painted neatly and no staples showing.
A Diptych will be considered one entry, and must be hung together, judged as a whole, and offered for sale as one piece. Entry forms and paintings must be noted “Diptych” and include the order of hanging.
All 2-D art work must be wired with ends of wire covered with tape. Wire when pulled to hang must be at least three (3) inches from top of painting. Screw eyes that hold the wire must be totally secure. Mats, glass, or Plexiglass should be clean, not marred or scratched. Identifying labels must be attached to the side (not middle) of wire, not to back of art work.
3-D ART WORK:
All identifying labels must be attached to a string tied around the 3-D art work. DO NOT paste label to back or underside of art work.
Artists submitting jewelry must include appropriate stands. Jewelry will be displayed within acrylic boxes for security purposes.
All 3-D art work must be able to be displayed on a pedestal near a wall or on the wall or in a case, size and weight dependent on available space. No 3-D art work will be displayed in the middle of the room. Maximum weight 50 pounds.
Artists with their own pedestals, jewelry stands or acrylic surrounds may bring them with their art work. However, final decision on appropriate display for the exhibition will be by the show Curator and ACSWF.
JURYING: The ACSWF reserves the right to exclude any work with subject matter or presentation deemed inappropriate.
SALES:. All Sales will be handled by the Marco Island Center for the Arts. A 6% Sales Tax will be added to the listed price. The Marco Center for the Arts will collect a 30% commission on the sale of all art work. Work should be priced accordingly.
FORMS: Copies of this Prospectus, Entry Forms including Identification Cards and Waiver will be posted on the ACSWF website, acswf.org. Note that any other waivers will not be accepted.
ARTISTS TAKE NOTE: A copy of Entry Form, Waiver, Form of Payment, Bios and JPEGs should be retained by the Artist. These will not be accepted at receiving. COMPLETE and MAIL THE NEXT TWO PAGES, ACCORDING TO INSTRUCTIONS.

All insurance is the responsibility of the artist. All artwork remains in the ownership of the Artist.
It is the artist’s responsibility to read and comply with the rules and regulations as presented in the Prospectus for the Show. All work submitted is subject to these conditions, including commissions, dates for exhibiting work, removing work and permission to photograph for publicity purposes. Work is to remain in the gallery for the duration of the Art Council’s Biennial Spring Show 2018.
