ACSWF History and Mission

More than a half-century of service to the arts:

The Art Council of Southwest Florida (ACSFW) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was formed in 1963 and today consists of 21 affiliated art organizations located in five southwest Florida counties (Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Glades and Hendry).

These organizations and art studios serve a combined membership of about 7,000 artists and craftspeople.

The mission of the ACSWF is fourfold:

* to highlight and publicize the venues, classes, exhibits and other activities of the council’s member art organizations

* to encourage the exchange of ideas among the affiliate members and their member artists;

* to provide exhibit and sales opportunities for these member artists. These include a member exhibit every year (either Winner’s Circle or Spring Art Show) and the Co-operative Art Gallery that operates on a year-round basis at the Coconut Point Mall in Estero, Florida;

and to promote a greater appreciation of the arts and artists of Southwest Florida, and a greater appreciation of how art enhances all of our lives.
