The arts in Lee County — a major economic benefit
On hand at the Alliance for the Arts for the recent unveiling and support of the report of economic arts activity in Lee County (called AEP5) were Lydia Black, executive director of the Alliance; Carolyn Gora, a member of the board of the Alliance and a member of the City of Fort Myers Public Art Committee; and Sarah Owens, president and CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation.
The AEP5 report documents that the arts contribute somewhat more than $140 million annually to the economy of Lee County.

A lot of luck
Steve Conley has had this photo, titled “Spherical Moment,” accepted into the Camera USA show at the Naples Art Association, June 20 – August 4. Conley says he was “lucky” to get this shot. He says he was sitting by a fountain in Hollywood, California, and a little girl was blowing bubbles, her brother beside her. The father then came along and hoisted his son in the air.
Online entries are now being accepted for Camera US 2017. All photographers residing in the United States are invited to submit one photograph taken in the USA after Jan. 1, 2013, for the Naples Art Association’s 7th annual national photography competition.
Conley is a member of the Alliance for the Arts.
